HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg Police Department (HPD), in partnership with Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation, will host a free basketball tournament on July 17, 2026, at Ralph Sampson Park in Harrisonburg.

This 3-on-3 tournament will feature four age brackets: boys and girls ages 11–14 and boys and girls ages 15–17, with up to five players allowed per team. Participants will receive a T-shirt, and food will be provided for players and attendees.

With music, food, and friendly competition starting at 2:00 pm, the event is designed to bring our youth, families, and neighbors together for a fun-filled day at the park. DJ 360, Harvie Andrews, will provide entertainment throughout the event.

“We are excited to host the first HPD Summer Slam at Ralph Sampson Park”, said Chief Joe Tucker. “This will be an excellent opportunity for the department and community to come together for a fun afternoon of basketball and engagement. We hope you’ll join us.”

The event is free to attend and aims to celebrate community, recreation, and positive relationships between local youth and law enforcement. For registration information, please email Erik.Dart@HarrisonburgVA.gov.
