WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) — A Waynesboro man has been found guilty of failing to alert authorities of improper behavior involving a child.

According to online records, Joel Christopher Spencer was convicted of one misdemeanor count of Failure to Report Certain Allegations this week in General District Court.

Chief David Shaw says the Waynesboro Police Department and Child Protective Services investigated allegations of a failure to report incidents of inappropriate conduct with a child at a local private school and daycare, including one on June 2nd, leading to Spencer’s arrest in July.

Prosecutors chose not to pursue a second charge of Failure to Report.

The 48-year-old Spencer has been ordered to pay a 500-dollar fine along with over a hundred dollars in court costs.
