ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Elevate Renewables held a ribbon-cutting ceremony today, June 10, 2026, for their 150MW/600MWh Prospect Power Storage facility in Rockingham County.

According to officials, the facility is the largest standalone BESS system that will operate in all of PJM.

District 1 Supervisor of the Rockingham County Board of Supervisors Dewey Ritchie said during remarks that this is a great thing for them.

Prospect Power is reportedly the result of a $250 million private investment that created 75 jobs and will dispatch power to over 100,000 homes in Virginia through a long-term offtake agreement with Dominion Energy.
