WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) — On June 2, 2026, Waynesboro Police arrested a local man on multiple felony drug and firearm charges following a drug interdiction assignment.
At approximately 7:45 PM on June 2, 2026, detectives working interdiction reportedly observed suspicious activity between the occupants of two vehicles. Traffic stops were made on both vehicles in the vicinity of North Charlotte Avenue.
Searches of both vehicles were conducted, which uncovered suspected cocaine, an undisclosed amount of cash, and a firearm.

As a result of the investigation, 27-year-old Steven A. Samano of Waynesboro was arrested.
He is charged with the following:
- 1 Felony Count of Possession of Firearms While in Possession of Certain Substances
- 1 Felony Count of Distribution of a Controlled Substance
- 1 Felony Count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Samano was processed, held without bond, and transported to the Middle River Regional Jail, where he remains held pending court.
