FRANKLIN COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible drowning at Smith Mountain Lake.

A 911 call was made Thursday night at 7 o’clock to report a missing person last seen in the Beech Drive area of Union Hall.

After a search through the area, officials removed a body from the water and was pronounced deceased.

According to reports, the victim was identified as 75-year-old Tom Stenson of McGaheysville.

The investigation remains active pending further information.
