SHENANDOAH COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) – Today, Wednesday, May 21st, at approximately 12:17 PM, the Shenandoah County Emergency Communications Center (SCECC) received a call from a blocked phone number, from a male caller on a SCECC administrative line, stating that he was outside of a school and was going to enter the school.
According to an online post, the caller gave the street address of a Shenandoah County Public School and provided additional information, regarding his actions.
Law Enforcement agencies responded and conducted a search of the Northern Campus schools and surrounding areas. Schools on the Northern Campus in Shenandoah County were placed on lockdown and schools on the Central and Southern Campuses were placed on secure status, to ensure the safety of students, staff, and faculty.
There was no suspect located on campus.
It has been determined that the caller used a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), phone number. Investigators did have a telephone conversation with an individual connected to the phone call.
While the investigation is ongoing, the incident appears to be a swatting call.
