HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – Harrisonburg City Public Schools announced that the Harrisonburg Education Association (HEA) was chosen as the exclusive representative to advocate for employees.

The decision came from a result from two elections, one with certified staff and one with classified staff. According to a release, HCPS said the division plans to work with the HEA in order to support staff.

As we move forward in this partnership, our focus remains clear: to protect, retain, and develop the best educators and support staff possible,” said HCPS. “Together, we are building a school system where every student can learn, and every staff member can thrive.”

The announcement also said that when employees are given a chance to use their voice, students can also benefit in a professional setting.
