AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) – On Friday, May 16, 2025, at approximately 5:15 a.m., the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant and multiple arrest warrants at a residence located in the 1900 block of Middlebrook Road.

Brandyn Thomas Long, 32, was taken into custody at his residence. The arrest stems from an alleged domestic violence incident that occurred on May 14, 2025. During the incident, Long reportedly discharged a handgun into a vehicle and inside the residence in the direction of his girlfriend.

“This was an isolated domestic situation,” Sheriff Donald Smith in a press release. “Thanks to the swift and professional response by our SWAT and K9 Divisions, Mr. Long was apprehended quickly and safely.”

Long was charged with brandishing a firearm, recklessly handling of a firearm, discharging a firearm within a building or dwelling, maliciously shooting at occupied motor vehicle, attempted to maliciously shoot, stab, or cut with the intent to maim, disfigure, disable, or kill, possession of a firearm by a violent felon and use of a firearm while committing or attempting to commit malicious wounding.

Long is currently being held at Middle River Regional Jail without bond.
