ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) – The Rockingham County Courthouse is issued a scam alert yesterday, April 17, 2025.

The Clerk of Court Chaz W. Haywood put out a statement in a social media post that people are receiving calls from someone pretending to be law enforcement stating that they owe a fine for missing jury duty and requesting payment of the fine over the phone, sometimes requesting gift cards.

The post emphasized that law enforcement and the office DO NOT call to make any type of payment over the phone and the number may be spoofed.

If there is ever a question as to whether a call is real or not, hang up and call Rockingham County Circuit Court at 540-564-3000.
