WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested a suspect following an overnight shooting that occurred on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
According to officials, Waynesboro Police Officers responded to Sunset Park at 300 North Winchester Avenue at approximately 9:30 p.m. following reports of shots fired into an occupied car.
Investigating officers determined that 18-year-old Isiah D. Crawford allegedly fired at the occupied car while bystanders were present. No injuries were reported.
Waynesboro Police believe this incident was not random, but rather the result of an ongoing dispute.
Crawford was later located in the 1100 block of South Delphine Ave. and arrested for the following violations of the Code of Virginia and issued a summons for a violation of the Waynesboro City Code:
• 1 Felony count of Attempted Malicious Wounding
• 1 Felony count of Shooting at an Occupied Motor Vehicle
• 1 Felony count of Attempted Reckless Handling of a Firearm with Injury
• 1 Misdemeanor count of Brandishing
• 2 Misdemeanor counts of Obstruction of Justice
• 1 Misdemeanor count of Discharge a Firearm within the City
Crawford was taken before a Magistrate and held without bond pending court.
