HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg City Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2026-27 budget during last night’s meeting.

The council also approved the Appropriation Ordinance, which is the actual legislation that the council approves that enacts the budget according to the presentation.

The proposed budget was presented to City Council at its April 14, 2026, meeting, and a public hearing was held at its April 28, 2026, meeting. The deadline to approve the budget was May 31, 2026.

The vote to adopt the budget was unanimous.

The proposed budget will become effective July 1, 2026.
