HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Harrisonburg City Council heard the proposed Fiscal Year 2026-27 budget during a presentation at last night’s meeting.
City Manager Ande Banks stressed that this budget proposes no increase to the current tax rates.
“It accommodates increases to city employee compensation and the employer contribution to health insurance for our employees. It continues the long path forward in investing in our water and sewer infrastructure through increases in our utility fees,” said Banks
The 407 million-dollar spending plan is almost nine million less than the current budget.
City Council will hold a public hearing on the budget at next meeting on April 28 and they hope to adopt a budget at its May 26 meeting.
