HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – The City of Harrisonburg has announced that the new sanitation schedule will now go into effect the first full week of 2026.

Officials say Friday pickups will take place on Wednesdays when the new schedule goes active, and bulk and yard debris will be collected on residents’ regular trash days every week.

However, all bulk and yard debris pickups must be scheduled online, by phone, or by email by noon the day prior to collection.

Cardboard pickup will remain on Fridays and will also require advanced scheduling.

The new timetable begins on Monday, January 5th.
