HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – The Harrisonburg City School Board approved the Superintendent’s 2026 Recommended Budget during last night’s work session.
The Board was presented with three separate proposals based on the priority areas of Compensation, Positions, and Day-to-operating budgets.
A motion was filed to accept Proposal C, which would include a 3% raise in salaries, and have primary focus on Compensation, Positions and Operating.
Vice Chair Tim Howley took a moment to thank the Cabinet for offering to take a 2 percent raise to support the school system.
“By adding more positions and making sure that the teachers got the full 3%, I think is commendable and shows true leadership,” said Vice Chair Howley.
The vote to pass the motion was unanimous.
