ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) – Rockingham County, All Points Broadband and Dominion Energy Virginia held a groundbreaking ceremony today, April 3, 2025, to celebrate the broadband project to bring high-speed internet to unserved homes and businesses in the county.

CEO of All Points Broadband, Jimmy Carr, said during his speech that this project is a significant investment in Rockingham County. It is also part of an 8-county project.

“What we’re doing today is the 21st century equivalent of electrifying the countryside,” said Carr. “We are getting this century’s essential utility that people don’t have, again in the hardest to reach places.”

Dominion Energy Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Bryasan Mealy-Norris, said they have been making progress to bring digital progress to Rockingham County.

“We believe the access to high-speed internet is fundamental and necessary,” said Mealy-Norris. “That we can open doors to education, healthcare and economic opportunities, by assisting our partner internet service providers. Which is All Points Broadband, and we’ve had several others with different counties, in their goal in providing reliable broadband access.”

Carr said they are in the phase of having crews in the field and fiber services will be brought to homes and businesses. The plan is to make service available through the second half of the year after construction.
