AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) – Virginia State Police has charged a Henrico man with multiple charges following a crash and foot pursuit that occurred Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 8:58 p.m. at the 236-mile marker on Interstate 81 northbound in Augusta County.
A 2013 Hyundai Elantra was travelling in the left lane of Interstate 81 northbound when it struck the end cap of the guardrail. The crash caused significant damage to the vehicle, which was confirmed to have been stolen out of Chesterfield County earlier that day.
The driver of the Elantra fled on foot and was later arrested with the assistance of deputies from the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office.
Dylan E. Peters, 18, of Henrico, VA, faces two counts of credit card larceny, a misdemeanor count of hit and run, one count of possession of Schedule IV substances, one count of operating without a license, one count of DWI-drugs, one count of grand larceny, and a count of being a pedestrian on an interstate.
Peters is currently being held at the Middle River Regional Jail in Staunton, VA.
