ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) – Virginia State Police is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash in Rockingham County. The crash occurred Thursday, January 23rd, at 8:20 a.m. at the intersection of Route 33 and Rockingham Pike.
A 2006 Honda Civic was traveling east on Route 33 when it failed to stop at a red light and collided with a 2011 Ford F150, attempting a left turn onto Route 33 from Rockingham Pike. The Ford had a green light. The driver of the Honda, Brandi R. Morris, 47, of Elkton, Va., suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Sentara RMH Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the Ford, a 21-year-old male from Elkton, Va., suffered minor injuries and was transported to Sentara RMH Medical Center for treatment. He was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation.
