GREENE COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Virginia State Police (VSP) is investigating a fatal single vehicle crash involving a motorcycle that occurred yesterday, September 13, 2026, at 11:13 a.m. on Spotswood Trail in Greene County.

VSP Spokesperson Matt Demlein reports that a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was heading eastbound on Spotswood Trail, about one-point-five miles east of Skyline Drive.  The motorcycle began to lose control and slowed rapidly.  The driver was ejected from motorcycle.

The driver, 67-year-old James M. Dooms of Waynesboro, Va., died at the scene. Dooms was reportedly wearing a helmet.

The crash remains under investigation.
