ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Virginia State Police is investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred today, May 1, 2026, at approximately 12:09 a.m. on Smithland Road in Rockingham County.
According to a release, a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder was heading westbound on Smithland Road at a high rate of speed when it ran off the road and struck a fence. The vehicle then overturned several times, struck a mailbox, and another fence.
The two juvenile occupants of the vehicle were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
