HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Golden Pony, a local restaurant and live music venue in Harrisonburg, announced they will close their doors.
The Golden Pony announced on their social media page that they plan on closing in June.
The owner, Paul Somers, said it was not for a lack of love and support from the community that they are closing, but that, “small independent music venues are truly endangered right now, and we are an unfortunate example of that.”
Somers continued to say in the post that The Golden Pony has been his greatest accomplishment, and it was a dream bringing people together with culture, food and beverages. He also thanked the staff, his family, and those who visited.
On June 5 and 6, 2026, The Golden Pony will host farewell showcases of bands and DJs with more details to be revealed at a later date.
