HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg Public Works Department wants to create more green spaces downtown.

Jeremy Harold, the city’s green sites manager, gave an update to its plan to city council during Tuesday’s meeting, they hope to plant trees along Main Street and surrounding areas.

“Landscape goals are welcoming pedestrians experience downtown, strengthening neighborhood connections, attracting visitors and support local economy, and define downtown as a destination for people to come down and eat and play and work,” said Harold.

Harold added that in addition to its streetscape plan, there is also a pollinator management plan as well as an urban forestry management plan.
