HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Harrisonburg City Council heard a presentation on the city’s Stormwater Improvement Plan during Tuesday night’s meeting.
Keith Thomas, the Public Works Sustainability and Environmental Manager, told the council that the project is to reduce certain emissions into Blacks Run and Cooks Creek.
“When I say BMPs, these are best management practices. These are things that we can implement, whether a physical structure or some type of action that we’re taking that helps to remove pollutants from our watershed, basically, or from entering the waterway,” said Thomas.
After the presentation, City Council voted to approve the improvement plan, which includes a rolling schedule through the year 2073 and uses five-year implementation targets.
