HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – The City of Harrisonburg is inviting community members to review and provide feedback on the proposed Downtown Master Planting Plan throughout the month of June.

The Downtown Master Planting Plan is reportedly a vision for enhancing Downtown through expanded landscaping, street trees, seasonal plantings, public spaces, gateway features, pollinator habitat and other improvements.

The plan explores opportunities throughout Downtown, including entry gateways, streetscapes, parks, parking areas, landmark locations and green corridors. Concepts included in the plan seek to improve
walkability, support local businesses, expand shade and green space.

Community members can participate by reviewing the Downtown Master Planting Plan presentation and the Downtown Master Planting Plan report, both available on the Urban Forestry Program website.

Community members can provide feedback on the public survey through June 30.

“This plan represents an opportunity to imagine how strategic landscaping and green infrastructure can enhance the Downtown experience while creating more comfortable, attractive and connected public spaces,” Public Works Greenspace Manager Jeremy Harold said in a release.
