AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now)— Buffalo Gap Middle and High Schools are currently on a secure lockdown.
Augusta County Sheriff Donald Smith said in a release that an anonymous phone call was received by Buffalo Gap High School indicating a pending threat towards the school and school staff.
Augusta County Deputies have responded to the school in response to this active threat.
The Sheriff adds that his office is actively investigating this threat, and further updates will be provided once the initial investigation has concluded.
At this time the lockdown has been downgraded to secure as numerous law enforcement resources are on location.
Out of an abundance of caution all Augusta County Schools were secured when this threat was received, says Sheriff Smith.
At this time ACSO says they have not encountered anyone around the general area of the school and that they have established a hard perimeter and is controlling all access points.
