HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – National Nurses Week is just getting underway, and Sentara RMH took time yesterday to offer a spiritual touch to the ones who often hold life in their hands.
On Monday, Sentara Chaplain Jeff Carr visited each unit at the hospital to conduct a “Blessing of the Hands,” commemorating the positive impact each nurse has on the community’s health.
Carr says that it’s a powerful experience.
“It’s super sacred to engage with our team members as colleagues,” Carr said. “But also, to recognize the work that they do and the touch that human touch that happens that comes to the hands and to bless their hands and to give the team members an opportunity to step away and to be recognized for the difference they make and to bless them that it’s sacred and it’s special.”
Sentara nurses are also getting taken care of in other ways throughout the week with special meals, gift baskets, and other perks.
