LEXINGTON VA: (WSVA) – Following an appeal, the Natural Bridge Zoo will get to keep some of the 100 animals that were confiscated by authorities late last year – but most will remain in the county’s care.
Monday, a Rockbridge County jury returned a verdict ruling that the government was correct in removing 71 animals from the facility during a two-day raid on December 6th and 7th.
The zoo will get back 29 that the government could not prove were treated cruelly or deprived of care.
State agents are also authorized to conduct unannounced inspections for the next five years.
