Luray, VA (RocktownNow) – Water safety concerns are affecting visitor amenities in Shenandoah National Park. The Virginia Department of Health identified the concerns with the raw water source at two public facilities in the park.

Officials state that due to deficiencies found during required testing, water systems at Dundo and South River have not had potable water for several years. However, spigots remained on with signage alerting users that the water is not potable to ensure visitors could extinguish their campfires, but the health department has informed the park that it can no longer provide water that is not potable even with signage. Because of that, fires of any kind, are prohibited at those two locations.
