AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — A Staunton man is in custody after a motorcycle pursuit in Augusta County last week.

Augusta County Sheriff Donald Smith says that on Thursday, August 20, a deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle on Route 262 after observing the motorcycle passing vehicles across a double yellow line. The deputy activated the emergency equipment and attempted to stop the motorcycle. The driver looked back, acknowledged the deputy, but refused to stop. The motorcycle continued onto Shutterlee Mill Road toward the City of Staunton.

Sheriff Smith says the motorcycle subsequently crashed on Shutterlee Mill Road, and the driver fled from the scene on foot. The deputy pursued the suspect to the Engleside Apartments, where the male was taken into custody.

The suspect was then identified as Adam Tyler Bodge, 27, of Staunton. The license plate displayed on the motorcycle was reported stolen from Harrisonburg, and the motorcycle itself was reported stolen from Fairfax County.

The Sheriff said Bodge sustained a leg injury during the crash and was transported to Augusta Health by Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad. He was medically cleared and released from the hospital.

  • Driving a Motor Vehicle Without a Driver’s License, Virginia Code § 46.2-300
  • Possession of a Stolen Motorcycle, Virginia Code § 18.2-109
  • Possession of a Stolen License Plate, Virginia Code § 46.2-613

Bodge was arrested after his release from the hospital and transported to the Middle River Regional Jail, where he is currently being held without bond.
