WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) — It appears that the woman who was arrested last fall on charges involving cruelty to children in Waynesboro has escaped jail time.

According to online records, Zarghona Ghani was found guilty of an amended charge of misdemeanor consensual sex with a juvenile over the age of 15 during a preliminary hearing yesterday morning in Waynesboro Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

A judge then sentenced Ghani to 60 days in jail with all of it suspended.

Waynesboro Police Captain Benjamin Lemons reported that it all started on October 31st when officers investigated the circumstances of multiple late night 911 hang-up calls made by a juvenile in the northeastern part of the city.

As a result, Ghani was arrested the next week and was charged with a felony count of Cruelty and Injuries to Children.
