WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) — On July 25, 2026, Waynesboro Police Officers responded to the 200 block of Claybrook Dr. for a report of a vehicle break-in that occurred sometime overnight. The victim informed the officers that several items, including credit cards, were taken and later used at several businesses in Waynesboro after the theft. 

Captain Benjamin Lemons reports that officers went to the businesses and, through their investigation, identified 27-year-old McClaire Herring of Waynesboro, as the suspect who allegedly used the victim’s credit cards. 

On July 29, 2026, as a result of the officers’ investigation, warrants were obtained for Herring, and she was arrested for the following charges.

  • 5 Felony Counts of Credit Card Larceny
  • 4 Misdemeanor Counts of Credit Card Fraud
  • 1 Misdemeanor Count of Attempted Credit Card Fraud
  • 2 Misdemeanor Counts of Petit Larceny

Herring was held on a secure bond and transported to Middle River Regional Jail.
