MOUNT JACKSON, VA (Rocktown Now) — On July 24, 2026, the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Unit conducted an animal investigation in Mount Jackson, VA where 30 Schnauzer type dogs were seized and taken to the Shenandoah County Animal Shelter, existing in poor living conditions in a trailer.

Most of the dogs were surrendered and are currently being evaluated by staff at the shelter in Edinburg. If you are interested in aiding the shelter regarding care costs, financial donations can be mailed or dropped off at the shelter (268 Landfill Rd, Edinburg, VA 22284).

The Shenandoah Sheriff’s Office obtained and served four class 1 misdemeanor warrants for Animal Cruelty to Marina Carranza with a court date set for September 11, 2026, at 9:00 am.
