AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — A trial date has been set for the Augusta County man who was arrested earlier this year in connection with an alleged rape.
According to online records, Kevin Wayne Hitt of Mount Sidney was indicted Tuesday by a circuit court grand jury on his seven original charges that included five counts of sodomy and two counts of rape.
Prosecutors have added another 10 charges, including two felony counts of incest.
A trial date was then set for August 31. In the meantime, the 41-year-old Hitt remains in custody at Middle River Regional Jail.
The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office received a call back on January 24 where the victim alleged that a rape occurred at a home.
Sheriff Donald Smith stated that the victim suffered bruising during the incident.
Hitt’s next court appearance is August 12 for an arraignment hearing.
