RICHMOND, VA (Rocktown Now) — Speaker of the House Don Scott has reappointed Chris Runion to serve on the Virginia Commission on School Construction and Modernization.
Delegate Runion has served on the Commission since its creation in 2021. Over the past five years, the Commission has reportedly worked to evaluate school infrastructure needs across the Commonwealth, identify cost saving opportunities, and develop recommendations and resources to help local school divisions modernize aging school facilities.
The Commission also provides funding recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly and has explored standardized school designs aimed at improving efficiency and reducing construction costs.
“I am grateful to Speaker Scott for the opportunity to continue serving on this important commission,” said Delegate Runion. “Our students, teachers, and families deserve safe, modern, and efficient school buildings that support learning and serve our communities well for generations to come. I look forward to continuing the work of finding practical and responsible solutions that help local school divisions meet those needs while being good stewards of taxpayer dollars.”
