HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg City Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2026-27 budget and approved the Appropriation Ordinance for the second time during tonight’s meeting.
Director of Finance Larry Propst explained that the primary changes are with the Harrisonburg City School budget that the school board had approved last week and has rearranged some numbers.
“In total, total budget as you approved the ordinance last approved initially with $407 million and everything reduced by approximately a million,” said Propst.
This makes the total budget approximately over $406 million.

The City Council also approved the real estate tax rate for Fiscal year 2026-27 to be set at $1.01 per $100 of assessed value.
