Authorities lifted a shelter-in-place order at a Lexington college yesterday after a thorough search by law enforcement debunked a possible threat to the campus.
Officials at Washington and Lee University issued the shelter-in-place at 3:45 yesterday afternoon, saying that they had received notice of a violent threat.
Nearly an hour later, law enforcement confirmed there was no active violence on campus, but continued with a building-by-building search out of an “abundance of caution.”
Just before 7:30, responding officers issued an all-clear and the school lifted the shelter-in-place. No one was harmed at the school, and law enforcement remained on campus overnight as an added layer of security.
