AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a stabbing in the Verona area.

Augusta County Sheriff Donald Smith says at 10:27 am they received a 911 call for a stabbing that occurred on Lee Street. Deputies arrived on scene, located a female with a stab wound to the chest. The victim was transported to the Government Center by Staunton Augusta Rescue Squad and flown to the University of Virginia by helicopter.

Sheriff Smith says this is an ongoing investigation and additional details will be released when they are available.
