The U-S Forest Service says it plans to temporarily close a section of Skidmore Fork Road in western Rockingham County, in order to upgrade some of the aquatic infrastructure in that area.

In a release yesterday, officials said that beginning later this month, Skidmore Fork Road will be closed at the intersection with Railroad Hollow. This is about a mile off of Rawley Pike.

They say the reason is to allow crews to replace an existing culvert with a new one that has less impact on the aquatic wildlife in the area.

The forest service did not release a hard date when the work will begin, but they say the project should take from late September through early November.
