Patience will be key for anyone waiting for the case of the alleged Shopping Cart Killer to go to trial.

A Rockingham County grand jury indicted Anthony Eugene Robinson on five charges last November, including two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Harrisonburg resident Beth Redmon and Tonita Smith of Charlottesville. The grand jury set two separate trial dates, with the first scheduled to begin today.

A reminder that two months ago, a judge postponed those trials as Robinson was still awaiting a mental health evaluation.

New trials have now been set for September 23rd of next year, and January 27th, 2025.
