AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Mount Sidney man on alleged rape charges.

Sheriff Donald Smith says that on January 24, 2026, the ACSO received a call for an alleged rape and that the victim alleges that while at a residence in Augusta County, the rape occurred. The victim suffered bruising during this incident.

ACSO says the suspect, 41-year-old Kevin Wayne Hitt, was subsequently arrested on February 3, 2026 and charged with 2 counts of rape and 7 counts of forcible sodomy. Hitt was arrested and held without bond in Middle River Regional Jail.

ACSO says no additional information will be released at this time to protect the identity of the victim.
