BRIDGEWATER, VA (Rocktown Now) — The next exhibition at the Beverly Perdue Art Gallery at Bridgewater College will feature abstract paintings that combine marks, lines, shapes and color.
“Studies in Color” by Kathleen Johnston will be open from February 9 – March 18 and will begin with an opening reception and artist’s talk on Monday, February 9 from 5-7 p.m.
A resident of Harrisonburg, Johnston earned her B.S. in studio art from James Madison University with a minor in art education. Her paintings can be found in collections in the U.S. and Canada.
Johnston says her paintings reflect real-life stories she sees and hears by creating compositions that emphasize color. She says this series is also a reflection of her experience as a mother and art educator.
