HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Harrisonburg City Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Richards explained during last night’s school board meeting that due to delays in knowing the budget, highly skilled candidates do not have the opportunity for a job position.

The topic was brought to the board last year in an attempt to hire potential team members by getting them into contracts earlier and having a plan to make that work.

Director of Human Resources Jeremy Weaver said one of their focuses is on the special education department and wants to post them as openings, not anticipated openings.

“Post those as actual openings and doing it by elementary, middle, and high, both for teachers and for instructional assistants for our special education department,” said Weaver.

Weaver continued by saying he is confident that administrators will find places for skilled educators to serve the students.
