Authorities are reminding all boaters to stay safe this weekend.
Officials with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources stated in a news release that wearing a life jacket and staying sober are essential for boating safety.
The department is partnering with the National Association of Boating Law Administrators this weekend for Operation Dry Water, what starts tomorrow and runs through Wednesday.
Wildlife Department spokesperson Paige Pearson stated the goal of this weekend is to not only educate boaters on the dangers of impaired boating, but also to remind them of other safe boating practices and that includes enrolling in a boater education course.
