ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Rockingham County School Board unanimously approved a contract to begin renovating McGaheysville Elementary School.
The school division’s Director of Maintenance Steve Reid explained during last night’s school board meeting that the total cost to expand and renovate the school will be around $18 million.
“We have things that we handle outside of the scope of the general contractor’s contract, such as the hazardous material abatement,” said Reid. “We handle the cabling of the building. We handle all of the kitchen equipment. Also, the $18 million includes the design fees.”
The contract was awarded to Broadway-based Lantz Construction Company.
