SHENANDOAH COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — A Broadway man is in custody following a traffic stop Tuesday in Shenandoah County.

The Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office says deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Main Street and Center Street in Mount Jackson.

After Sheriff’s Office Narcotics K9 Axel gave a positive alert, further investigation was conducted and approximately an ounce of Methamphetamine, a scale, packaging material, and a syringe were recovered.

The driver, who was identified as James Robert Whetzel, was arrested and charged with two counts, including Distribution of a Schedule one or two Controlled Substance.

He is currently being held without bond at R-S-W Regional Jail.
