STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — A Staunton man has been arrested on 35 counts of knowingly possessing child pornography.
Staunton Police Sergeant Christopher Ammonds says 71-year-old Timothy J. Snyder was arrested as part of a joint investigation involving the Staunton Police Department and the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Ammonds says the Staunton Police Department received a referral through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in March of 2026. Snyder was initially charged with 15 counts of knowingly possessing child pornography and arrested by the Staunton Police Department on October 7, 2026.
As the investigation continued, Ammonds says Snyder was charged with an additional 20 counts of knowingly possessing child pornography. He was arrested on October 30, 2026.
The investigation is ongoing and Snyder is currently being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
