AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Craigsville man following a pursuit on Tuesday, July 8.

ACSO says they received a call at approximately 9:37 PM, for a larceny that had just occurred at a residence in Craigsville. While enroute to the residence, the Deputy called the victim to obtain more information about the larceny. The Deputy determined that multiple firearms, ammo, food and drinks were taken from the residence. In the area of Parkersburg Turn Pike and Stanley Street, the responding deputy passed the suspect that was involved in stealing the items from the Craigsville home. Earlier in the day, the suspect vehicle was reported stolen from Fredericksburg City.

Several Deputies activated their emergency lights and siren in an attempt to stop the suspect vehicle when a pursuit ensued. The suspect vehicle went into the City of Staunton, came back into Augusta County and later ended up on interstate 81. Once on the interstate, tire deflation devices were successfully used in an attempt to reduce speed and stop the suspect vehicle. The Virginia State Police assisted the ACSO with the pursuit. The suspect intentionally made contact with several Virginia State Police vehicles, causing the suspect vehicle to lose control.
