HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Sal T. Romero, Jr. has announced his candidacy for Harrisonburg City Council.
Romero is running as an independent.
“Harrisonburg’s challenges require an open mind, not a party line. I come to every conversation willing to hear all sides, serve as a connector between different perspectives, and then make the difficult decisions that move this city forward,” said Romero. “That’s the kind of representation Harrisonburg deserves.”
Romero has served as Chief of Staff for Harrisonburg City Schools and has previously served on Harrisonburg City Council from 2018 to 2022, including as Vice-Mayor.
Romero is also an immigrant who reportedly came to the United States as a teenager and became a U.S. citizen in 2004.
“Harrisonburg is a city of educators, entrepreneurs, immigrants, long-time families, and students who are here building their futures. I intend to draw the best thinking from wherever I find it and put it to work for every resident.”
