Waynesboro Public Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Nathan Bain as the new Head Football Coach for Waynesboro High School. A product of the Waynesboro community and longtime contributor to the WHS football program, Coach Bain brings a deep sense of commitment, character, and continuity to this leadership role.
Coach Bain has served as the Head Junior Varsity Football Coach and Offensive Coordinator at Waynesboro High School. During his tenure, he worked with both JV and varsity athletes, coaching quarterbacks, wide receivers, and defensive backs. Under his leadership, the JV program steadily developed, fielding competitive teams year after year and instilling a strong foundation of teamwork and perseverance. His JV teams posted multiple winning seasons, including 6-4 records in 2021 and 2023.
In addition to his coaching experience, Coach Bain brings a unique perspective shaped by two decades of professional experience in the manufacturing and industrial sectors. Known for his reliability, work ethic, and leadership, he has managed operations and served as a key point of contact in production environments.
These skills translate directly into managing a high school football program. Dr. Jeffrey Cassell, Superintendent of Waynesboro Public Schools, expressed enthusiasm for Coach Bain’s appointment, stating, “Coach Bain represents the best of our community, and he’s committed to the success of our student-athletes both on and off the field. His leadership style is grounded in mentorship, resilience, and long-term relationship-building.”
Waynesboro Athletic Director Jake Peeling shared, “Coach Bain is a passionate and thoughtful leader. He understands that football is more than a game, it’s an opportunity to build character, discipline, and unity. I’m excited to see where he’ll take the program next.”
In his application, Coach Bain wrote, “My coaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that it is not merely about football, but who we become through it. I strive to instill in my players not just the skills of the game, but the virtues of integrity, perseverance, and teamwork. These values shine brightly both on and off the field.”
Waynesboro Public Schools looks forward to the next chapter of WHS football under Coach Bain’s leadership and the continued growth of a program grounded in grit, character, and community.
