STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — A Staunton police officer has been recognized for his dedication to public service.
Sheriff Chris Hartless posted special recognition of Staunton City police Sergeant Charles Minix for his response to a nearby call for help while off-duty last Sunday, May 18th at Ridgeview Park in Waynesboro.
Minix ran to assist a child experiencing convulsions during a medical emergency at the park and helped stabilize the girl until rescue personnel arrived at the scene.
After receiving a call from the family expressing their gratitude, Sheriff Hartless presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Minix saying his “dedication exceeded the professional standards expected of members of the Staunton Sheriff’s Office.”
