HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Anicira Veterinary Center will offer free spay and neuter surgeries for up to 100 family pets on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, on behalf of Shaw Floors and Eagle Carpet. The one-day event, “Paws on the Floor,” also includes a free rabies vaccine, distemper combination vaccine, and microchip for every participating dog and cat.
According to Anicira officials, spay and neuter surgery protects pets from serious health problems, including certain cancers and infections, and reduces the number of unplanned litters that end up in local shelters. Cost is reportedly one of the most common reasons families delay the procedure. This event removes that barrier for households across the region.
“We are deeply grateful to Shaw Floors and Eagle Carpet for making this day possible,” said Mary Golden-Hughes, Director of Advancement at Anicira. “Their support, together with Anicira’s experienced staff, lets us reduce barriers to important care for family pets. Spay and neuter is one of the most effective things we can do for the health of individual pets and for the community as a whole. Days like this show our neighbors that Anicira’s commitment to this work is long-term, and that we are proud to stand alongside businesses who value the importance of healthy pets in our community.”
